Selling a website development business
For over 13 years, this website development and services company has been making steady profits and has over 30 monthly loyal revenue generating clients.
WordPress websites, custom PHP framework programming, and SEO services are among our specialties. We currently have two full-time web assistants to help with day-to-day duties and one-time projects. We also work with a network of trusted contractors and partners who have been working with us for over a decade.
We regularly take on new projects in addition to our existing clients.
The ideal owners would be a digital agency or group of developers looking to attract more clients and expand their business, as they will need technical expertise to serve clients in the future.
Over the past three fiscal years, we have been fortunate to see an increase in revenue. In the previous two years, over 70% of the revenue came from SDE. Despite the epidemic, revenues were higher than the previous fiscal year. The company has had little overhead since inception, allowing the owner to work from home and share business expenses.
The owner wants to sell the company to focus on other online businesses and investments. He will remain to complete all current business and help the new owners. Terms of transition and income are negotiable.
Other than digital files, credentials, contracts and the like, the deal does not include any assets of the firm.
Growth Opportunities:
- Advertising: Fortunately, we have been able to grow solely through referrals and repeat business, so marketing and advertising are great opportunities. We also did not do SM channels or outreach.
- Cross/Supplemental Sales: We rarely promote our other services to our current clients, many of whom probably have budgets.
- Pricing: Our rates range from $60/hour to $105/hour, but for most clients the increases are not very frequent, new owners can price at their discretion after all current contracts are completed.
Support to be provided:
- A checklist of frequently performed tasks so you can see how we perform services for clients.
- A client document that will outline more technical and specific issues.
- A client list with each client’s website, the services we provide, rates, and dates of service.
- A list of contractors/partners and the sites they have worked on/supported
- A current web assistant who has been with the company for a year.
- My direct part-time support for the first four weeks while we transition from one job to the next, and for longer hours/more involved, by arrangement.
